'John Kennedy. My god that was a rough council pub. Wasn’t expecting Aylesbury to have that much pond life'
Haha, funny you mention that, exactly one of the places I was thinking of in my plast post, we moved to Aylesbury when we left. Sleepy market town back in those days but had three or four dodgy council estates and each had a properly grim pub
Aylesbury is now an absolute hole

Anyone remember the Grapes in Limehouse pre Canary Wharf days? A world away from what it is now, dark and dingy, i used to get a couple of coppers for my grandads empties when i took them back.
The Pauls head and The Huntingdon arms, both in Canning town. Full of characters you didnt want to piss off ( or beat at cards)

Someone mentioned the ferrier estate, it was the watt Tyler pub on there, that place looked grim towards the end.

I remember hanging about that cathall road estate a few times as a teenager, late 80s and I remember someone telling a story about a girl being thrown out one of the top floor windows by yardies

Mashed, that made me smile, too.
Maybe the tragic Hackney Hipsters are going through a Tudor phase. Leather jerkins, hose, those weird puffy shorts and a codpiece*
*in Gav's case, a spratpiece.

North Woolwich. The one part of east London that is stalwart shit hole.
The Royal Standard. Still has net curtains up.
One that hasn't been mentioned perhaps for obvious reasons is the Army and Navy betwixt custom house and plaistow. Naughty.

Can’t add to any of the London pubs on here so I’ll go for a couple of provincial ones
Now closed years ago, the centurion, Colchester
Rescently, the John Kennedy. My god that was a rough council pub. Wasn’t expecting Aylesbury to have that much pond life
Oh, back to London there was one on the ferrier near kidbrooke station SE3. God knows why I went there as I lived off estate in blackheath.

Fair enough it was a wine bar but there was trouble in there a lot and not always with Millwall.

No, as violator said that was the Plough. The Nags was about a mile down the High St but I'm not surprised there were Skrewdriver t-shirts on show as Welling had always had a big BM/NF connection back in the 80s

Some crackers mentioned on here already.
The Waller Castle in Peckham until it got burnt down The Command House in Chatham as featured in this summers World Cup brawl video.
Virtually every pub on Coldharbour Lane back in the day, which had its own special tribe of headcases.
Sun and Doves: Millwall youth Mucky Duck: villains in suits The Green Man: ragga youth The warrior: bikers The Atlantic: yardies, Rasta and old blokes playing dominos
There were two or three others as well. A high risk specialist pub crawl.

What were the pubs in North Woolwich just up the road from the ferry?
As a kid when we went through they looked double grief from the outside and being from up the road in East Ham and parents from Canning Town we had a few 'locals' places
Made me laugh when we first moved out to North Bucks as a 14/15 year old when new mates described trickey pubs, although in fairness, they were not always wrong, some right herbert gaffes in the most unlikely of places
